Thank you so much everyone for all your birthday wishes. I have had the best of all possible weekends and feel very blessed.

Yesterday ROBOTS OF DEATH and our proceeding panel with Tom Baker and Philip Hinchliffe at the BFI went down a storm. The fab Matt Evenden sorted me a birthday cake delivered on stage, consumed in the green room! Yum!

Then dinner with nearest and dearest in the true sense of the word (if you are ever on the Southbank in London I recommend the ARCHDUKE - live jazz and fabulous food)

And today my first born ran the marathon. Respect! Welcomed him over the finishing line with champagne and tears.

The sun shone.

Next Friday I open in GUTTED... possibly the most exciting theatrical experience of my 44 years in the biz... Stratford East, only runs for a month, get a seat if you can, and (as there's no stage door) I shall always leave the building via the bar, so feel free to stop me and say hello.

Love, L x

Happy Easter one and all.  I hope it’s filled with family and friends and laughter and as much chocolate as you can consume without throwing up!

Brunch tomorrow with my new grandson, and then friends in the evening.  Bliss.

I am currently rehearsing GUTTED – a visceral piece of writing which is challenging and rewarding in equal measure (see the video clip above).  I am Bridie Prospect, the mother of four boys in a dysfunctional South London family – and Rikki Beadle Blair wrote and is directing the piece.

Stratford East is one of the most beautiful theatres in the country, and the work ethic there reminds me why I chose this profession.  I am LOVING the process and the company I am working with.  We only play for a month so if you want to see some fascinating ‘out there’ theatre book now, ‘cos I have a feeling we’re going to be the hot ticket.  I hope so anyway.  It is important and vibrant art. (click here to buy tickets)

In other news the audio work expands, and Big Finish have eight new stories lined up for The Doctor and Leela (one of them written by Nigel Fairs and me).  And a second exciting writing project which I am simply not allowed to talk about yet, although I am bursting!!!

MY GAY BEST FRIEND has one more performance in this country, before we go to America, and that is at the Lowry in Manchester on July 21st. (click here to buy tickets)

May the sun shine metaphorically on your life, even if it isn’t managing it meteorically.

With love Louise

Why aren’t I running around gathering in all those last minute xmas presents and nut roasts and scented candles?  Because I’m taking time out to write a ‘have a fabulous time’ message to you all.

2013 has a very firm actor hat on my head.  An episode of THE DUMPING GROUND in January, also touring PULLING FACES and MY GAY BEST FRIEND before we bring the latter into London, the internet series THE VESSEL released its final episode last night and a short film, just completed, CHARITY, to be released within the next couple of months.

The new agents, Cole Kitchenn, proving adorable and a brand new voice agent, Rachel Kean at Articulate Voices, about to be adorable!

Two writing commissions and two secret ‘somethings’ later in the year.

Full on family breakfast tomorrow, and then over to my brother’s where we shall be joining his (huge) tribe.

Looking rosy – feeling blessed – hoping you are too.  May you have the best of festive seasons, and a wonderful and peaceful New Year around the world.  But before the frantic last minute dash begins…

…a moment to remember the families who have suffered recent, terrible losses. May 2013 bring you peace and love and healing, and know that there are many holding you in their hearts.

Louise xx

I am really sorry... so much for guaranteeing one a month this year!

OK… what’s been happening?

I am currently patron of Off West End (www.offwestend.com) – and I also assess for them, which means I have been watching vast amounts of London fringe theatre... The best and the worst, and, if you didn’t catch it, Uncle Vanya at The Print Room was utterly amazing, I hope it has a future life.  The worst... I’m keeping to myself, but it has been a fascinating, eclectic mix, and those of you that live in or around London, check out the website...It is full of special offers, and if you love theatre, there is something for everyone.

There’s been a spate of Doctor Who conventions, with more to come, please check out my Doctor Who page for full details. Also 18th November, Manchester (to be confirmed) and Melbourne (!), date to be decided!

And I can't write about Doctor Who without mentioning the passing of dear Carry John.  We didn't see much of each other but I always regarded her and her husband as good friends.  She was caring, talented and a wonderful gardener.  She will be very much missed, both by family and fans.  May she rest in peace.

The most wonderful thing to have happened over the last few months is MY GAY BEST FRIEND, which was co-written and performed by Nigel Fairs and me, won the Angel award at the Brighton Festival. TENKO fans note, we were directed by the perfect Veronica Roberts. Her first ever foray into directing, and she is BRILLIANT. We both loved working with her and her tactful, ‘no nonsense’ approach.  We have had two offers of fringe venues in London but are holding out for a third(watch this space) and if all goes according to plan we’ll bring it into the West End area next spring. I can’t quite explain what a fabulous experience it has been. This is only the third play that I have written, and for it to have had such success in such a short space of time has been totally thrilling.  We are also in the process of discussing a possible tour over the winter before bringing it into London, so if there are any art centres interested in booking us, please contact Helena Richardson (www.richardsonprm.com) and let’s hope we’re free.

Also, for The Brighton Fringe Festival, I directed THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN PEN, which got fantastic notices due to Michael Chance’s concentrated and detailed performance. A one man show depicting Ian Fleming from the day of his wedding to the day of his divorce.  A ‘must see’ for any Bond fans.  This too looks like it is transferring to Jermyn Street Theatre (www.jermynstreettheatre.co.uk) Dates to be decided.

A sad thing happened to me, after thirty-two years, my agents and I have parted company, for reasons too complicated and personal to re-iterate... but the up side is COLE KITCHENN (www.colekitchenn.com) have enthusiastically embraced me and my career.   I can’t sing their praises highly enough.  Four interviews in the last two weeks, and a sensitive approach to all that I stand for, and hugely supportive of all extra-curricular activities, (working with teenagers, after dinner speaking, writing etc.)

And talking of writing, I pitched an idea to Big Finish for an adventure with Tom Baker and me... and... they bought it.  Hurrah!  Writing as we speak, (with Nigel Fairs, he’s mentoring me through the first one) and hopefully there will be more.  BF, also, have asked me to direct Katy Manning in a Companion’s Chronicle… should be interesting!  Brilliant script written by Jonathan Morris.

I had a very welcome 3 day break in Amsterdam with Matt Evenden (talented designer of my website) and another week’s break booked in Europe in October…. My light at the end of the tunnel, sooooooo looking forward to it.

Wonderful Toby Hadoke came and did his last ever MOTHS ATE MY DOCTOR WHO SCARF, and his first ever MY STEPSON STOLE MY SONIC SCREWDRIVER at The Beacon, where I run a monthly fringe venue (www.tlcproductions.co.uk) If you are in Scotland, catch him at the Edinburgh Festival, NOW – it is BRILLIANT!

Sunday Drama College (www.sundaydramacollege.com) came up trumps with THE COMEDY OF ERRORS last Sunday (one of the reasons I have been so remiss with the blogging.  They’re time consuming, these teenagers!)  Their fourth open air Shakespeare since we started in 2008 and I think one of the best, against all the odds.  On the Tuesday I was close to cancelling, but by the Sunday they had hauled it together in a muddy/rain soaked/utterly brilliant way!  I must admit to shedding a tear as the last show went into their curtain call.  Our next venture for the SDC is ACTING FOR CAMERA – a week’s intensive course.  Check into the website if you know anyone in the Kent/East Sussex area aged 13 to 24 who wants to learn how to cope with the lens, make a movie and is free to commit to working with us from Aug 13th to Aug18th.

The Future…

…involves the past, inevitably.  Some DVD commentaries on Bergerac, with the gorgeous John Nettles.  MY GAY BEST FRIEND at the Arundel Festival on Sunday 19th August (www.arundelfestival.co.uk) It’s a small venue so book early, we are doing two shows on that day.  More Big Finish, a writers’ retreat in Cornwall, a book launch for REMEMBERING TENKO on Oct 22nd at The War Museum (so excited!), a short movie (will tell all next blog)...and my own special treat... Joan Armatrading is coming to the Assembly Rooms in Tunbridge Wells, who could ask for more...

… I love my life.

Love Louise x

It’s been a roller coaster two weeks which started in a balloon sailing towards a perfectly blue sky followed by champagne. And all before 10.00am on a Monday morning. Then on to Port Isaac to ‘learn lines’ with my gay best friend for MY GAY BEST FRIEND

Our world premier will be at The Beacon (www.the-beacon.co.uk) on April 27th at 9.00pm Ticket Hotline 01892 524252. Followed by every Sunday in May at the 3 and 10 Theatre (click here to book tickets) …and… hopefully April 27th will also see the launch of DOWNLOAD DRAMA as the first audio becomes available MY MOTHER WAS AN ALIEN IS THAT WHY I’M GAY – written by Nigel Fairs.

Four of my students have either been short-listed for or got into the drama schools of their choice. Yay! And the others did a fantastic fundraiser for Macmillan nurses. Some beautiful eye-watering moments, and I have to credit our BRILLIANT Musical Director Adam Rood. The recruiting drive is on to replace those students we’re losing and, for those interested, our next venture is an open air production of COMEDY OF ERRORS. (www.sundaydramacollege.com)

I’m currently in Cardiff recording a terrific radio play called WHITE NOISE written by Matthew Broughton which is transmitting on Tuesday 10th April on Radio 4 at 2.15pm. (Click here to listen). And prior to that on April 4th Josie Lawrence and I have our DOCTORS episode airing (Click here to watch).

Spring is sprunging! I hope, those of you in the UK, are enjoying this FANTSTIC sunshine.. and those of you elsewhere in the world are also receiving some joy.

Love Louise x

PS. A whispered post script: More Big Finish on the way in May (Shhhhhhhhhhh!)

I’ve started Zumba - yay – what fun. No-one telling you to try harder, push further, strain more… just leaping about for an hour to fabulous music, and opening up all those synapses to get routines into your head. Brilliant!

I had my car broken into last month, that wasn’t too much fun, hugely inconvenient because it was covered in glass and it meant I only had time to catch a cab to Guildford, to honour my commitment to the Yvonne Arnaud, but my brilliant cab driver (Mike) took me, came to see the show (!) and brought me back again… all through that terrible snow storm! He was my knight in shining armour.

February 11th saw the launch of the Big Finish CDs (www.bigfinish.com/Big-Finish-4th-Doctor-Adventures) and appearing on stage with Tom Baker for the first time in…how many years? He was absolutely brilliant, so witty and responsive to the audience. A joy to share the platform with.

The tour of PULLING FACES finished to a standing ovation of 500 in Los Angeles – I was seriously worried about how a show dealing with the issue of cosmetic surgery was going to go down in the epicentre of face lifts, but surprisingly, it was really well received, so thank you LA for ending the tour in style.

The fringe venue at The Beacon (www.the-beacon.co.uk) saws the premier of Helen Goldwyn’s new show A FUNNY STAGE (www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mf8mvsy3K4). She’s a wonderful writer, composer and performer, not to mention the singing. I felt extremely proud to be hosting. If you didn’t catch it the second performance will be on April 23rd at The Pheasantry (www.pizzaexpresslive.com)

Last week I spent two days with two different charities… raising awareness for homeopathy and the following day giving a speech celebrating International Women’s Day at West Heath School (www.westheathschool.com) trying to raise the profile of this extraordinary house of education. They take care of children and young adults who have suffered appalling trauma, giving them back their self-respect, their confidence and, by doing so, their futures. I was incredibly impressed and humbled by the staff and the students.

Our new play, MY GAY BEST FRIEND, gathers momentum. And on Monday morning, after my balloon ride over Devon , (yes I’m going up in a balloon!) I am continuing on to Cornwall to shut myself away for 5 days in order to learn the script, preparing for the ‘try out’ on April 27th at The Beacon (01892 524252 for tickets) followed by the Brighton Festival which we perform every Sunday in May at the 3 and 10 (Book Tickets).

So, there we have it, the story so far, and it’ll soon be April! I haven’t even mentioned the launch of the new audio company. MY MOTHER WAS AN ALIEN IS THAT WHY I’M GAY will VERY soon be available in CD form and as a download…. Probably the same day we premier MY GAY BEST FRIEND, April 27th…. So that’ll be a red letter day all round. Hope to see you there.

Love Louise x

...so technically it Friday 27th and the month is nearly over. I swear January goes faster every year. Isn’t today supposed to be the most depressing day of the year, when all the Christmas credit card expenditure comes plopping through the letter box demanding to paid?

PULLING FACES tour trots on a treat, the studio space in Hertford was an absolute joy to play, and has been my favourite show so far. Tonight is Barking, then next week Leeds, Middlesborough and two shows at The Mill in Guildford, by which time February will be well under way.

The Doctor Who Big Blue Box Day went brilliantly and, rumour hath it, will be repeated next year.

Los Angeles on the 13th so I’ll be in the sky as Valentine strikes twelve. I think that’s quite a big deal in the States, so I am to look forward to some romance U S of A style!

A new business is in its embryonic stage of audio drama. The first play already recorded (see photo) and I’m currently in discussion about distribution (download or CD or both) – it’s all new territory! Very exciting. More news on that with March’s blog.

Also an episode of DOCTORS in the can which airs on April 4th, a very funny script and I got to work with the fabulous Josie Lawrence… yay…. so the grass hasn’t grown under my feet in 2012.

Thanks all of you for checking in. I hope this New Year is treating you kindly, and the credit cards can get paid off without too much sacrifice!

Love L x

A happy, healthy, wondrous, prosperous, love-filled New Year to you all. Welcome to the ‘new look’ website courtesy of Matt Evenden (www.starfishconsultants.co.uk).

January kicks off with 3 projects for me. On January 6th my production company records MY MOTHER WAS AN ALIEN IS THAT WHY I’M GAY by Nigel Fairs (www.nigelfairs.com ) This comedy/drama will launch a new business, DOWNLOAD DRAMA, which will consist of plays lasting approximately an hour. I hope to gather in a library of audio drama for your enjoyment, and will launch the company later this year.

On January 9th to 13th I record an episode of DOCTORS. An hysterical part of a slightly sex-craved woman of a certain age, fighting for her man. Couldn’t resist it.

On January 14th I start the second tour of PULLING FACES which is going to begin in Tunbridge Wells and end in Los Angeles on February 18th. (www.tlcproductions.co.uk) The whole of January 14th is being given over to raising money for Compaid and is called Big Blue Box (Book tickets here), culminating in a performance of PULLING FACES at 5.00pm. (Book tickets here).

Big FinishOn January 11th we are launching the Big Finish Fourth Doctor audio series that I recorded with Tom Baker last year (pictured). I am so proud of them, and hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed recording.

The next ‘definite’ dates in my diary are the four Sundays throughout May. Nigel Fairs and I co-wrote a play last year, and the fruits of our labours will be performed at The Brighton Festival (www.brightonfestival.org). I’m secretly holding my breath on this one, thinking it could be something very special. The title, at the moment, is MY GAY BEST FRIEND.

Last year I had a ‘big’ birthday and have found it incredibly liberating. This coming year my children turn 30 and 28, I can hardly believe it. I have more writing projects on the go and the work with my teenage students (www.sundaydramacollege.com) gathers momentum. Please do go to the website if you have a teenager in the Kent/East Sussex area who may be interested in joining our Sunday group.

Charities which I am supporting this year are Nottingham CYF Project (nottinghamcyfproject.org.uk), DAVSS (www.davss.org.uk) and Pepenbury (www.pepenbury.info). To which end I am saying here that I’m afraid I shall no longer be posting out free signed photographs. I recently had some new ones done, and have been replying to fan mail with one enclosed, only to find them being sold on EBay. I’m sorry to those of you who genuinely seek a signed photo, but from now on you can order them through the shop for a donation of £5 which will be split between the above charities.

Last year was very full for me, with a tour of PULLING FACES, Steven Berkoff’s OEDIPUS, and the television series of DOC MARTIN. The short film I recorded in 2010, Cleaning Up (www.guerrierbrothers.com ) is now award winning…and I kick off the new year with so much going on, almost too much, but I’m saying that very quietly so the Universe doesn’t think I want anything to be any different.

With a pledge to update this blog more often this year, I send you love and gratitude. May you receive everything you need and almost all of what you wish for. Louise x

So tonight's the night! I'm so pleased to be in Doc Martin and have had a fabulous summer filming it, followed by several audio adventures with Tom Baker and am about to go to Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland for Dr Who conventions. So the sun continues to shine metaphorically and literally. And... I'm holding my breath very hard (turning blue in fact) waiting for a verdict on whether a recent audition has been successful - should know by the end of the week.... watch this space...

So...the last three days have been crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I flew back from le sud du France on Thursday… After a really lovely holiday, accompanied by the brilliant Nigel Fairs, having stayed with my niece and her beautiful family.

Spent Friday and Saturday reading an engaging adventure children’s book for the RNIB called THE DOG AND HIS BOY.

Tomorrow I rehearse a fringe show which I am directing starring Adam Rood called ANORAK OF FIRE – only one show scheduled currently,  so try and catch it at THE BEACON (www.tlcproductions.co.uk) 9.00pm on August 26th, a mere £10 entry!

On Monday I have the CRAZIEST job imaginable.  Ray Cooney is making a film and has asked all his chums to be extras.  I consider myself his chum and have volunteered to be part of an aerobics class (heaven help me!) in Wimbledon.  Already Dame Judi has appeared as a bag lady, Sir Cliff Richard has been a busker, Barry Cryer has collected money…Commonly known as bottling… For Cliff!!!  And now I, along with Barbara Windsor and copious others, are offering our services for the day – can’t wait… Payment is a bottle of champagne and a (sex and travel*) party at the end of shooting.

Since I last wrote (far too long, I apologise to those of you that check in for the blog) I have been filming DOC MARTIN.  Been introduced as the Mother in Law from HELL!!!!!!!!!!  Martin Clunes character and mine HATE each other on sight.  Although off screen he is adorable.  It verges on the Ab Fab as a character.  I couldn’t have asked for a better 60th birthday present.  I’ve had THE most wonderful summer in a cottage in Port Isaac.  Filming on cliff tops with some of the most beautiful views in the world as a back drop.  REALLY good scripts and, I have to say Ben Bolt is probably the best TV director I have ever worked with.  He is sensitive, kind, encouraging, tactful, patient, creative, caring… and impossible to compliment… He just shrugs it off, so I’m doing it here in print!

I’ve had TWO birthday parties this year – like the Queen! The first one my brother took over and made wonderful, full of care and generosity. And the second  was hugely supported by my friend Matt Evenden, who decorated our local pub with my ENTIRE career, finding jobs I’d forgotten I had even done, a memory box of programmes and more Chablis than a girl could consume.

I have a third party to look forward to (if this is being 60 bring it on!!!!!!!) which is a gift from all my sister TENKO friends. Their present to me was to choose a venue of my choice for an evening out.  Duly selected, duly looking forward to it.  Steph Cole also has a ‘special’ birthday this year so we are combining and I’m looking forward to it more than I can describe.

After filming on Tuesday I am back with Tom Baker in the Big Finish studio reprising Leela and the Doctor on some FABULOUS, AMAZING audio adventures.  And on the Doctor Who theme,  I’m going to Australia and New Zealand later this year with three Doctor Who conventions lined up.

How blessed am I?  All I need now is a day off!

Thanks for checking in, with love, L x x

* Sex and Travel party = F*** off party

My darling brother organised a fabulous party for me at Quaglino’s with my very nearest and dearest on the 20th.  Eldest son flew in from Egypt especially, youngest son also showed, all the way from Maidstone! Darling niece surprised me from the south of France, plus one of her sisters who flew into England that morning, and 25 other people, friends and family… each one dear to my heart.  I can honestly say one of the best nights of my life.

Last Friday I worked with Tom Baker, recording a story for BIG FINISH, (I get to meet the Daleks, but don’t tell anyone, supposed to be a secret!) and the weekend was also spent with Doctor Who fans.  Derek Hambley organised a wonderful birthday celebration…we had the BEST of times. A special thank you to Glen Allen who conjured up the most wonderful DVD trip down memory lane www.glenallen.co.uk

Ian Fraser has recently done a photo session with me and produced a special birthday photo to be used only on the Easter weekend.  Derek printed them up and with his usual generosity produced more than we needed.  I would like to ask the guys who were there if they would mind me using the residue for charity…

The charity I have chosen is Nottingham CYF project www.nottscyf.co.uk I recently met the young woman who runs it, and am so impressed by her work.  The Variety Club have promised her a new van (the one she drives at the moment, although very endearing, is on its last legs) but it is conditional on her raising £7,000…. And that’s what I intend to make happen.  I can start with selling these limited print photos, and… watch this space, because there are one or two Dr Who related items to auction coming soon, ALL proceeds to CYF.

Tomorrow I intend to completely chill, picnicking with the neighbours, walking the dog, doing some gentle weeding in my chaotic garden and maybe even sleeping a bit…

On Tuesday my keep fit regime starts…!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy holidays, love L x

I am sitting in the green room of a recording studio in darkest East Sussex or maybe Kent, Leela was never too sure where the TARDIS was going to land, working with... can you Adam and Eve it?????... Tom Baker who is being brilliant reprising his role as THE Doctor for Big Finish. This week I have turned 60, I'm back working with Mr T Baker.... and, as things come in three... what will be my third adventure this week?... perhaps the Doctor Who convention starting tomorrow.

Last week saw my first days filming on DOC MARTIN. 'LOVELY, LOVELY, LOVELY' is what I have to say.  Weather, crew, make up person, script, fellow actors, wardrobe, designers, hotel all LOVELY....  probably in a honeymoon period, but had the BEST time.  The character is Eleanor, slightly hippy, free-flowing, mother in law from Hell , wine-swilling, chain-smoking..... a far cry from JOCASTA in OEDIPUS which is probably going to the Edinburgh Festival... waiting to hear.

I counted my chickens too soon on SEASON'S GREETINGS- I'm afraid the touring money couldn't be met so had to let that one go.  But that does mean that after the Edinburgh Festival I can conclude the BIG FINISH work and then visit my darling niece in France for a WELL EARNED holiday.

I cannot let this blog go by without mentioning Lis Sladen, who so sadly died this week.  I know many people are really mourning her.  Thoughts are with the family, the colleagues, the fans.  Her professionalism and dedication to the work and all that surrounded it will be remembered.  RIP, much, much too soon.

Well, everyone, enjoy the heat wave, I hope the bunny has left you the best chocolate egg on the planet.  Love Louise x

I OMG OMG OMG Just in the last week I’ve been offered… DOC MARTIN as the mother-out-of-law from Hell, and I’m thrilled. Huge admirer of Martin Clunes' work, and although I’ve only read one script we lock horns right royally.

Also been offered a tour of SEASON’S GREETINGS directed by the gorgeous Robin Herford who I’ve worked with many times before (my husband in SECRET DIARY OF ADRIAN MOLE) and as a director on CONFUSIONS, BEDROOM FARCE, CORPSE and ARSENIC AND OLD LACE. We’re ‘doing the deal’ at the moment but am confident we’ll reach an amicable conclusion.

Also heavily involved in Brighton Festival this year, directing two shows and acting in one. Click the video below to see more.

My trips to the other side of the world for Doctor Who conventions have been postponed due to the terrible earthquakes and tsunami. Such suffering is totally unimaginable. My heart goes out to them. Such a cliché in the face of such devastation. It certainly puts everything into perspective.

Health, love and peace to you all. Louise x

STOP PRESS: I'm back working with Tom Baker, six stories for BIG FINISH, can you Adam and Eve it?!

It went by in a blur of touring PULLING FACES, my brilliant Sunday Drama College performed SNOW QUEEN, producing Murder Mysteries and I’m currently rehearsing for Oedipus (opening next week in Liverpool)… who said January was a dull month?

I was chuffed to bits with the teenagers who pulled off a world premiere written and directed by Nigel Fairs and music by Adam Rood.  Due to an inexplicable electrical problem at Trinity Arts Centre their second show was done with only working lights and no microphones… But the Dunkirk spirit prevailed and with true professionalism they pulled it off brilliantly.

PULLING FACES has had some fabulous reviews, I’m so grateful, much of it due to the new direction by Nigel and Helen Goldwyn’s writing getting the recognition it deserves.  Already another tour is taking shape for next January.

Oedipus has, thus far, been a very strange experience, I’m right out of my comfort zone and Steven Berkoff is a bit like Marmite isn’t he?  Love him or hate him… it’s a style that I haven’t explored before, and it’s not been easy.  The atmosphere in the rehearsal room has, at times, been strained to say the least.  I can’t speak for my own performance but the bits I watch whilst being off stage, are staggeringly good… It’s the art of surrender I’ve decided.  Difficult to be objective.  Press are in Tuesday week, so we’ll know more then I suppose and with talk of a possible London run after that. We start at the Everyman Liverpool Playhouse (www.everymanplayhouse.com) followed by the Nottingham Playhouse (www.nottinghamplayhouse.co.uk)

I am also doing another performance of FROM WOMEN’S EYES, now entitled SHAKESPEARE’S MISTRESS at The Lowry Studio on February 27th. (www.thelowry.com)

Writing-wise… I’m preparing Macbeth for my youth group open air production in the summer, devising a new show called MY GAY BEST FRIEND with Nigel Fairs, bullying myself into getting on with the biography and honing up the PULLING FACES script ready for publication.

Also planning loads of treats for myself as I turn 60 in April, and there has to be something good about that, if only an excuse to get all my nearest and dearest in one place at the same time.

And today can't go by without mentioning Eygpt!  How extraordinary all this has been.  I wish them peace.

Happy Valentine’s one and all, Love L x x

PS  Re: my previous blog the CLEANING UP film was with the wonderful Mark Gatiss - what an honour to share the lens with him.  Three days filming fitted into his hectic schedule.  He is incidentally giving the most fantastic performance in SEASON'S GREETINGS at The National, not many more to go, so book now if you want to catch it (www.nationaltheatre.org.uk)

PPS  Big Finish is branching out into audio work and PULLING FACES has been chosen... had enormous fun getting that onto CD, being released later this year (you can pre-order a copy at my online shop), and...

PPPS for any Jago and Litefoot lovers (www.bigfinish.com) I have four more in the can (can you say in the can for audio work?) and one more to be recorded.  Christopher Benjamin and Trevor Baxter must be the most wonderful double act EVER!  And that's official.

Just returned from the Chicago TARDIS Doctor Who convention where we were treated right royally.  They couldn’t have been more welcoming.  It is such an odd mixture of consumerism and generosity with people literally storming the shopping malls to get a bargain, quite frightening images on their 24 hour news channel, and then the love and the warmth at the actual convention with the meeting of like minds, and the ‘happy holidays’ mantra becoming an actuality.  Laughter and enjoyment, with everyone connected by mutual interest.  Toby Hadoke stole the show with his performance on Saturday night, (www.tobyhadoke.com)

I think the highlight of my visit was the Chagall windows at the Art Institute.  Brilliant, beautiful, vibrant colours and shapes lovingly displayed.  Everything is treated with such respect there, from the art itself to the people observing it and even though it was teeming with people it maintains a sense of space.

Back to a snowy, stunning, hushed, white Kent.  Can’t move the car, can’t catch a train, coal fires, too much telly and a dog that is delighted I am home 24/7.  Snuggling down today to work on a short film called CLEANING UP – I’m not allowed to say any more about it as the casting hasn’t been completely finalised but I shall be working with… watch this space… so longing to tell you…  We are filming that before Christmas.  And I shall also be reading THE FACE OF EVIL for the RNIB (www.rnib.org.uk).  Both these jobs connected with Doctor Who contacts, so still Pennant Roberts continues to provide.  He would have been 70 on December 15th so please raise a glass of something delicious in his memory.

The previous three months have seen me working with Ray Cooney on his musical STOP DREAMIN’ – a scary and exhausting process, but I am sooooooooooo pleased to have done it.  I think it was one of the most amazing casts I have ever worked with.  Maybe all musicals are like that (this has been my first commercial foray into the genre) but the dedication, talent and sheer professionalism was astounding.  I had a depressing after show come down and miss the company very much.

My tour, PULLING FACES by Helen Goldwyn, directed by Nigel Fairs, (www.nigelfairs.com) also continues to expand so please do check into the touring dates (Windsor just added) and see if I come to an Arts Centre near you, and make sure to say hello afterwards in the bar.

May Christmas fulfil your expectations (make certain they are good ones!)

Thank you for checking in, I wish you joy and love and peace. L x

I’ve just returned from after dinner speaking for the The Lady Taverners Club.  Had a terrific time, and loved the whole ambience and atmosphere of the day.  The Hotel where the luncheon was held is the Rowhill Grange Hotel and Utopia Spa – what a BEAUTIFUL place it is – and I’ve been promised a day’s pass for the Spa, so can’t be bad!

I was released from rehearsals to go and strut my stuff.  Ray Cooney has written and is directing STOP DREAMIN’ – a musical which encompasses the music of Chas and Dave.  I would be lying if I didn’t say I was struggling.  Never sung with a band (except for panto), never done a musical (except for Rep a million years ago, or college when they were ‘stretching’ you)... the character is lovely, Doris... good old East End salt of the earth, moral, matriarchal... A really terrific cast – it has all the ingredients of being a huge success, and indeed we are promised the West End as a carrot at the end of this mini tour.  Watch this space is all I can say.  Personally, am feeling a tad under-rehearsed... but then I always do... but I do feel privileged to be working with this company.

We open at the Theatre Royal in Windsor (www.theatreroyalwindsor.co.uk) in a week Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!   And then two weeks later move to Guildford (www.yvonne-arnaud.co.uk).  Hopefully I’ll feel more confident by then.

Whilst playing, I shall be directing ACID BATH MURDERER for the performances at the Arundel Jail House (www.arundeljailhouse.co.uk) and SPOOKY STORIES FOR LITTLE PEOPLE – a play for 4 - 9 year olds that I have also written, performing for one day only at Trinity Arts Centre, a Halloween special (www.trinitytheatre.net) with Jennie Goossens and Kate Dyson performing.

My short tour finishes on Nov 6th and then I start to tour PULLING FACES – a one woman show encompassing the problems of face lifts, hot flushes and toy boys...  if you enjoyed Vagina Monologues or Calendar Girls this is for you.  Bridget Jones 30 years on.  Tour dates thus far are listed on the Tour page but they are being added to every week, so keep an eye if you would like to see it, it may be coming to an Arts Centre near you....

In the middle of this little tour I am off to Chicago for a Doctor Who convention and Thanks Giving.  Very excited about the whole trip.  Chicago has the best art gallery in the world, and (I am told) one of the best jazz clubs, so can’t wait!

And my brilliant students from The Sunday Drama College will be performing twice on Jan 9th at Trinity Arts Centre, Tunbridge Wells, a brand new musical of THE SNOW QUEEN – a family show – written by Nigel Fairs, music by Adam Rood, choreography by Elizabeth Bellinger (www.sundaydramacollege.com)

All other info will be on www.tlcproductions.co.uk

Thank you for taking the time to read all these dates/times/venues...  I hope I see you at one of them, please do introduce yourself if you come.

Love L x

And late..! Apologies. A myriad of reasons but I won’t bore you with them. Just ask you to excuse me.

THE DREAM went wonderfully… eventually – I threw a wobbly on the Monday of the final week and they jumped to in the most unexpected and brilliant way, by Sunday I was enormously proud. Not least of all with the asses head made by Dominic Atkinson. Next year… The Scottish Piece… Started work on it already. Find out more at www.sundaydramacollege.com

LOVE’S THE THING was also a triumph – what fun! Upstairs at The Lamb in Eastbourne was celebrating its first year as a fringe venue and the room was packed, and rocked with laughter and, on occasion, a lump in the collective throat. I can’t speak for myself, but the three thespians, I was honoured to share the stage with, were fantastic.

I finished a short story this week, very Mills and Boon, but nevertheless a week before my deadline! It is to go towards a brain tumour charity book that Fantom Films are publishing. Find out more at www.fantomfilms.co.uk

My next deadline for them is to produce at least one chapter of the autobiography by the end of Septmeber. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!

In the middle of September I start work with Ray Cooney on STOP DREAMIN’. I’m looking forward to this more than any job in a long time, but am also… what?... scared is too strong a word, but I’m out of my comfort zone that’s for sure.

Between now and then I have 6 (yes six!) stories to do for BIG FINISH (www.bigfinish.com) and have now set up a shop on this website so that the body of work I have done through them can be sold through this site (signed), you can also purchase signed copies of any of the television shows I have been in on DVD. I hope this is a useful addition for those of you who can't make it to a convention or personal appearance. Hurrah!

Think that’s it for now, thank you for checking in. Enjoy the rest of the summer and I’ll write again in September.

Louise xx

PS I shall be touring my one woman show PULLING FACES this coming December/January, watch this space and also www.tlcproductions.co.uk which contains news of our Murder Mysteries and all the other productions tlc have taken on board.

I've had a very sad month with the death of my dear friend and mentor Pennant Roberts.  The funeral was last Friday and absolutely amazing, with many, many people telling me Pen gave them their first break... and of course I include myself in that number.  Hundreds of people, old friends, tears and laughter and the sun shone.

The sun continues to shine, my neighbour's garden puts mine to shame, and I am resolved to correct that by this time next year.

I have had a request to publish my autobiography... we are in discussion (Fantom Films)... but hope to time something for my 60th next year.  Have also had an offer to do a new musical - wonders will never cease, which, after a short tour this year, is looking for a theatre in the West End for next spring.  I'm nervous to say the least, but never one to shirk a challenge...

The Sunday Drama College is performing A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, directed by me, at The Beacon on 24th and 25th July at 3.00pm.  £5 on the door, no booking necessary, would be lovely to see you there.  And on 1st August, Nigel Fairs, Suzanne Procter, Adam Rood and I perform in LOVE'S THE THING at The Lamb in Old Town, Eastbourne as a matinee. Tickets available from www.thelambtheatre.co.uk

Now then, can anyone find me an asses head?...

It lifts the spirit, which has taken a dip or two this month.  It’s not that I haven’t been offered work, it just that the offers need to tick two of the three boxes which are:

(a) artistic satisfaction
(b) location
(c) remuneration

Why is it that the work we LOVE to do is poorly paid, or bloody MILES away?  All well and good putting a positive spin on everything... but...that said, I am so enjoying the (unpaid) work that I am doing.

Nigel Fairs ran a brilliant writers’ retreat to which he invited me, a consequence of which is I have started a novel!  I know everyone says that, but I really have! No… I really, really have!

Also in development is his script of CARABOO so with my producer’s hat on I’m doing the ground work on that.

And my fabulous teenagers (21 of them this term) are working on A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM which will be performed at The Beacon in Tea Garden Lane on 24/25 July at 3.00pm £5 on the door, no reservation necessary, bring your own chair!  They never cease to amaze me, this group, with their concentration and their care for each other.  We’ve got the usual stresses of people telling me they’re free for the whole rehearsal process and then putting in for time off, but at least they’re trained up to let me know now!

SHAKESPEARE’S MISTRESS (www.tlcproductions.co.uk) has had a couple of inquiries, so a mini tour of that will probably happen later in the year.  I’ll keep you posted.

IN CONVERSATION WITH AN ACID BATH MURDERER went BRILLIANTLY – The Lamb in Eastbourne was transformed into a workshop and then a cell – our audience laughed and cried (www.tlcproductions.co.uk) This production will definitely have a future – we’re looking at the actual dungeon in Arundel as a starting point.

This week I’m back with the wonderful Big Finish group and recording four short stories (I actually get to be Sarah Jane – how weird is that?) and some other work lined up with them for September although I’m not allowed to talk about that yet, although I’m longing to!

Life feels very transitory at the moment, and the brilliant Matt Evenden (designer of my 3 websites) nagging, sorry… persuading, me into doing this blog every month, really makes me look at where everything is heading, and actually just how creative practically everyone I know is.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.  Now get off the computer and go and enjoy the sun!

Love,

Louise x

NEWS UPDATE - I'm recording an EGGHEADS for the BBC with Colin Baker and John Leeson for Charity - a "Doctor Who" team!!!

Thanks to everyone who supported the event on April 17th.  Frazzled is not the word - the calmest moments for me were, surprisingly, when I was on stage.  The feed back has been fabulous. FROM WOMEN'S EYES - now to be called SHAKESPEARE'S MISTRESS will, in its next life, be 10 minutes longer, one more speech and a couple more anecdotes, and maybe a tiny bit more audience participation, then we'll be ready to roll!

Credit is due to The Scandalmongers, who captured the imagination of 150 youngsters throughout the day, (a further gig for them to be announced soon), marvellous Simon James with his perfect mixture of performance and ambience, and Pete Searles giving us the history of his sex life.  Thanks also to Trinity for their uncomplaining 'free flow' attitude towards the whole day - I hope we shall be doing much more with them, discussions under way.

Our confirmed up-coming performances are as follows:-

May 23rd  At The Lamb in Eastbourne (www.thelambtheatre.co.uk) we perform IN CONVERSATION WITH AN ACID BATH MURDERER. The chilling true story of John George Haigh, who killed at least six people between 1944 and 1949. The nation was gripped by the trial of the self-confessed ‘vampire killer’. Now, you are invited to join him firstly in his workshop in Crawley (where he dissolved his victims in acid) and then witness his final moments as he waits to be hanged.

July 24th and 25th Under the banner of Sunday Drama College 23 teenagers strut their stuff giving a unique open air performance of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM (pay on the door £5 only) at The Beacon, in Tunbridge Wells at 3.00pm both days.

July 29th a MURDER MYSTERY dinner at The Beacon (01892 524252 www.the-beacon.co.uk) back by popular demand, so book early.

August 1st LOVE'S THE THING - Jane Austen meets Shakespeare as part of the Eastbourne Shakespeare Festival, at The Lamb (www.thelambtheatre.co.uk).

Not a bad start for tlc productions eh?  Again my heartfelt thanks to all who came to the launch, especially to Matt Evenden for his fabulous website design www.tlcproductions.co.uk

Love to all, Louise x

On Saturday 17th April (3 days before my 59th birthday) I am planning to launch my production company, TLC Productions at TRINITY ARTS CENTRE in Tunbridge Wells (www.trinitytheatre.net).

There will be children's shows during the day, brilliant Simon James playing guitar, in the evening I shall be be giving a Mistress Class on Shakespeare followed by SEX WITH PETE SEARLES! Sound intriguing? Follow the link (www.tlcproductions.co.uk) and come and support one or all of the shows. Something for everyone.

It feels like curtain up on Act III of my career, branching out into producing alongside performing. I shall be around all day, so do come and say hello. If you're feeling broke the foyer entertainment is gratis, with a pay bar, so just come along and enjoy a spring Saturday evening.

And along with it my new-look website courtesy of Matt Evenden (see links page)… thank you for checking in, and thanks also for your patience with my very intermittent blogging.

Today, writing in haste, en route to my THIRD meeting for SISTER ACT! Cross everything at 4.30pm as I run the gauntlet of American producers, who I am told are lovely, but it doesn't take away the nerves.

And this evening I perform in WE'LL ALWAYS HAVE PARIS at The Mill at Sonning www.millatsonning.com A nun by day and a slut by night - twas ever thus.
